County shows really are great fun, aren’t they? They’re a great way of embracing and honouring traditions specific to the region you’re in, meeting new and interesting people and just celebrating life in general.
Here at the Two Moors Festival, we make a point of going to as many as we can each year. There’s nothing better than getting out in the open air, watching sheepdog trials, carriage driving and falconry displays, and seeing lots of Dartmoor and Exmoor ponies.
Those of you who’ve seen us at these shows before will know, however, that we do have another reason for going – as well as enjoying some of the true-blue Devonshire delights on offer, we’ve also found county shows to be a wonderful opportunity to meet local people not necessarily on the concert circuit and let them know all about the festival itself.
Last year, we actually took quite a few bookings from concert-goers who said they’d first heard about the Two Moors Festival at one of the shows we were at – and, being a local festival, we’re always keen to have as many local people come to our concerts as possible.
Sadly, the North Devon Show was cancelled due to the rather awful weather we had earlier this summer but you can come and say hello to us at the ones taking place over the next two days.
Today (August 16th) we’re at Chagford Show and tomorrow we’ll be putting up a stand at the Dunster Show, so make sure you come and say hi. Look out for our display boards (and mascot, Schubert the Sheep!) and come and pick up a brochure.
We hope to see you there!
