This year at the Two Moors Festival’s main two-week event in October, we’re putting on a series of concerts called A Season Ticket for Bach – where fantastic musicians like Guy Johnston, Keziah Thomas and Tai Murray sit down to play a few Partitas in Tiverton Parkway railway station.
To mark the occasion, we thought we’d hold a preview event with violinist Kerenza Peacock playing excerpts from the composer’s E major Partita, which took place yesterday (August 21st).
It really was a lot of fun and there was a brilliant atmosphere – proving that we weren’t mad to think of holding classical music concerts in such a venue after all!
“There was lots of chitchat going on and people wanting to ‘change at Crewe’. Two trains rattled past at the same time, which contributed to the event and proved that you can have a concert in a working station. Kerenza came down on one train, went back two trains later!” festival artistic director Penny Adie said.
What fun! If you weren’t travelling that day and missed out on this special performance, don’t panic! A Season Ticket for Bach begins on October 15th and ends on the 19th – so you have plenty of time to fit in a visit to the station.
