Fancy that! A seven-year investigation into the origin of a violin thought to be the very same played by Wallace Hartley as the Titanic sank has concluded that it is indeed the one.
Henry Aldridge and Son, the Titanic specialist auction house, were approached in 2006 by the owner who wanted to sell the instrument and experts soon set to trying to prove that it was the original violin, now saying that they are confident “beyond reasonable doubt this was Wallace Hartley’s violin”.
Although no date has yet been set to auction the violin off, you can head off to see it for yourself as it will be on display at Belfast City Hall in April.
